Swimming Game – If you’re Happy and you know it

The best swimming games are also songs that you can play and sing with multiple groups of people. Ideally you will use this song and game for your Parent Tot classes (infants) and with your beginners who are learning to go underwater. You could adapt this to a more advanced class, but the simplicity of the song and game make it better suited to younger participants.

Gather your group together in one central place, or form a circle if you’re with Parent Tots.

If you’re Happy and you Know it lyrics:

If you’re Happy and you know it splash you feet,

If you’re Happy and you know it splash your feet,

If you’re happy and you know and you’re face will surely show it,

If you’re happy and you know it splash your feet!

If you’re happy and you know it splash your hands…

If you’re happy and you know it splash your arms…

If you’re happy and you know it blow some bubbles…

If you’re happy and you know it Dunk you Face…

With each line where you say “splash your feet” actually splash them in the circle or in a goofy way.

Our ultimate goal with this game is to have fun splashing, and to get the participant to go underwater as a part of the game. Our final round through should be “dunk your face” and encourage everyone to go underwater completely on their own.

We can modify that last line by saying:

“Dip your chin…”    “Sink your nose…”   “Splash your eyes…. (blink furiously at the surface :)”

Have fun with it and change up your lyrics to make it interesting and exciting.
